Hello, I have been reading these posts with great interest and I have a sincere question I hope someone can answer for me. Since my understanding is that there is no conversion TO Hinduism, I am curious as to how a non-Indian Westerner such as myself who genuinely believes in Sanatana Dharma, performs home pujas to Lord Ganesha, Durga Maa and Lord Shiva and avidly reads the scriptures should identify myself as? I live in a small town where the nearest Hindu community is two hours away, so it is not easy for someone like myself to "join in" as it were. While I firmly do not agree with the way missionaries coerce people to convert, I must say to their favor, Christian groups do make all feel welcome. I find it very hard for me as a non-Indian to feel welcome into the Hindu community. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? ( Posted: Saturday , December 30, 2006 at 20:11 )

"United we stand; divided we fall, " meaning that any group is stronger when it is united, and therefore better able to handle the challenges that face it. There are many challenges facing Hinduism today, including unethical conversion efforts by other faiths. This is good news! Hindus who have been deceived and lured into conversion must be welcomed back! Truly education of Hindus in Hinduism must be a priority. "You cannot convert a Hindu who knows his religion." The Hindu religion has survived all kinds of deception, lies, deceit, charitable allurement, educational indoctrination, medical care and some times even violence to its people for many a centuries. But now we should use all media; Internet, television, radio and magazines to expose such unethical practices. All this is possible if Hindu Vaishnavites, Hindu Smartas, Hindu Skates and Hindu Civets, devotees of every tradition and language group--are proud and willing to stand up and work together as brother and sister Hindus, respecting and encouraging the efforts of one another, uplifting the world by the power of their own upliftment.
